Quick answers to the things people ask most. If you don't see your question here, email support@hiddendays.com and we'll get back to you within one business day.

Getting started

How do I make a calendar?

Open the app, tap + New calendar, pick an occasion (birthday, wedding, gratitude, advent, custom…), and choose your start date and how many doors. The app prefills reveal dates; you fill in what's behind each door and publish when you're ready.

How do recipients open a calendar?

They tap your share link — no account required. The app loads the calendar in their browser or, if they have Hidden Days installed, in the app. Doors unlock on their reveal dates; locked doors gently shake, unlockable ones pulse.

Does the recipient need an account?

No. Recipients can open doors, react with hearts, and leave text replies all without signing up. If they later create an account, their existing history merges automatically.

Sharing and links

I lost my share link — can I get it back?

Yes. Open the calendar in the app and tap Share on the publish screen. The slug is preserved when you unpublish and republish, so the recipient's existing link keeps working.

Can I make my calendar password-protected?

On Pro, yes — the publish screen has a password section. The password is hashed server-side and never stored or transmitted in clear form. Calendars with gift-card doors require a password to prevent forwarding leaks.

Can I take down a calendar after publishing it?

Yes. Tap Unpublish on the publish screen — the share link stops working immediately. Your content is preserved; you can republish later and the same link will resume working.

Doors and content

Why isn't today's door opening?

A door unlocks when its reveal date arrives in the recipient's local timezone. If the door looks shaky-locked, the date hasn't quite hit yet. Pull to refresh, or check that your device's clock is correct.

Can I edit a door after publishing?

Yes. Open the door from the calendar grid, tap Edit, change the content, and save. Recipients viewing later will see the new version.

What kinds of content can I put behind a door?

Subscriptions and billing

How do I subscribe to Pro?

Tap Upgrade anywhere it appears in the app — typically when you hit a free-tier limit. You can choose monthly, annual, or a one-time unlock for a single calendar. Purchases run through the App Store or Play Store.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancel through your store account, not in the Hidden Days app:

Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Pro features until then.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple or Google according to their store policies. For App Store refunds, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. For Play Store, request a refund from your order in the Play Store app. We're happy to vouch for genuine issues — email us with your order ID.

Restore purchases isn't working.

Make sure you're signed into the app with the same account that made the purchase, and into the App Store / Play Store with the same store account. Then tap Restore purchases on the paywall screen. If it still doesn't restore, email us with the email address tied to your purchase and we'll sort it out.

Notifications and email

How do I turn push notifications on or off?

The opt-in lives in Settings → Notifications in the app. Toggling it off stops the daily reveal pings; you can also turn off notifications system-wide from your device's Settings.

Why didn't my recipient get an email?

Recipient emails are sent only for scheduled-release calendars or unopened-door reminders, and only when you set a recipient email on the calendar. If it's missing, ask them to check spam — first-time sends sometimes get filtered until the sender domain is recognized.

Account and privacy

How do I change my email or password?

Email changes go through Supabase's authenticated update flow — email us and we'll start it for you. Passwords reset via Forgot password on the sign-in screen, which sends you a reset link.

How do I delete my account and data?

Email support@hiddendays.com from the address tied to your account and we'll process the deletion. Calendars, doors, openings, reactions, and push tokens are removed within 7 days; backups may retain copies for up to 30 days. See the privacy policy for the full retention story.

Where is my data stored?

Account info and calendar content live in Supabase (Postgres + cloud storage). Subscriptions are managed by RevenueCat. Push tokens (when you opt in) are stored alongside your account. Full breakdown is in the privacy policy.

App problems

The app won't open / a screen is stuck.

Force-quit and reopen first — most transient issues resolve there. If it persists, make sure you're on the latest version (App Store → Updates), and if that doesn't fix it, email us with your device model, OS version, and app version (Settings → About).

An image or video failed to upload.

Check your network connection — uploads can stall on slow Wi-Fi. Try again on a stronger connection. Photos must be under 25MB; videos must be under 60 seconds. If the problem keeps happening with a specific file, email it to us and we'll take a look.

My share link returns "not found".

Most likely the calendar was unpublished by the owner — ask them to republish. Less commonly, the URL was mistyped; share slugs are case-sensitive and don't contain spaces.

Still stuck?
